Who runs this site, how the report is produced, and how to reach the maintainer.
What this is
mercatusdata is a daily, facts-only market report covering foreign exchange, precious metals, US large-cap stocks, energy, and crypto. It is built and maintained by an independent developer as a one-person project, published under the site's own name rather than a personal one.
Why it exists
Most market commentary tells the reader what to think. This site does the opposite: it reports where each instrument sits against its own history — percentiles, ranges, positioning, and scheduled decision dates — and stops there. The selection and ordering surface what has reached a statistical limit; the reader supplies the judgment.
How it is produced
The report is generated by an automated pipeline that fetches raw data from a mix of official and public sources: positioning from the CFTC; reference rates and macro series from the ECB Data Portal, the Federal Reserve's FRED, and national central banks; and daily price bars for equities, crypto, energy, and precious-metal futures from Yahoo Finance (a widely used but unofficial feed). The official LBMA metal fixings are logged as an independent cross-check, not as the reported price. The pipeline stores only raw values, and recomputes every derived figure from scratch on every run. No figure is hand-edited, and no generative model writes or alters the numbers. The full method — indicator definitions, percentile windows, source list, and timing conventions — is published in the Methodology section of the homepage.
Corrections and revisions
Raw data is stored permanently; when a provider revises a previously published figure, the stored series records the revision date and the next run recomputes everything from the corrected data. Dated archive pages are frozen records of what was published on that day; the stable per-instrument pages always show the latest run. Errors in the report's own logic are fixed in code and apply from the next run forward.
What this site is not
